Are doctors demon?

I don't know how Malaysians (generally, not all) think. I'm not sure why they hate doctors that much.

First, we have this alarming anti-vaccines groups. Ignorant narcissist bigots, all of them. I'm not sure what to do if i have to face them, which i surely will some time soon. Vaccines protect us, and in UK now, measles are re-appearing because of those anti-vaccines parents. I read their reasons against vaccines:

1. side effect : autism, fever, brain damage
my counter argument: those serious side effects are rare, we're talking less than 1% rare, so if your children happened to be the less lucky one, i'm sorry. Besides, it's hard to tell whether the damage is the vaccines side effect or due to other reasons. And it supposed to be rare, i find it really hard to believe that it just happened to be really common among those anti-vaccines groups.

Fever, it's hard for the parents but that's how babies (even adults) develop their immunity. No pain no gain.

2. Vaccines are not halal.
My counter argument: check e-fatwa. It's harus to take the vaccines. Don't overthink this. I see that they spin this fact, dragging it into the MRC-5 cell saying that it's extracted from live fetuses. First, don't you think Majlis fatwa consider this before announcing the fatwa? Second, read the explanation on the fatwa, "Vaksin-vaksin yang digunakan dalam imunisasi bagi penyakit-penyakit tersebut hendaklah diambil daripada bahan yang suci, sekiranya vaksin daripada bahan suci tidak diperolehi atau sukar diperolehi, maka penggunaan vaksin yang sedia ada adalah diharuskan."

3. I don't vaccinate my child and he grows well.

My counter argument: Vaccines mean to protect, to prevent diseases. Be grateful that your unvaccinated child is well, at least for now. But don't expose your latter children to diseases just because your unvaccinated child is well. I read someone posted this logic--> when you (the parents) were young, there was no seatbelts/kids seat and you turned out well. Similarly in this vaccination issue, because you turned out well without seatbelts/kids seat, your kids don't need them too.

Now, move to the other issue. Supplements as prevention. I never encounter this while in Jordan, so i'm not really familiar with the whole traditional/herbal supplement scene. So here, we got bunch of magical pills/powder/coffee/cream that can lose your weight, CURE (YES they used cure instead of manage) chronic diseases like diabetes/hypertension/ischemic heart disease even SLE, in the same time those things also give you the best nutrition. Some of those things even appeared in established medical journal for its side effects, but of course Malaysians know better. Those journals lied, they said. Those things are better than modern drugs that doctors prescribe, and doctor prescribe drugs because they want to take advantage on you, they said.

So basically, as long as there are any ways possible to avoid doctors, why not try it, right Malaysians? Probably they had bad experiences seeing doctors (well who doesn't? I'm almost a doctor myself and i hate seeing doctor too) but health is a serious and sensitive matter. You do not want to jeopardize it. And remember, there is no shortcuts. Want to lose weight? Eat less exercise more. Diabetes? Reduce sugar in diet, exercise more, if not effective, start drugs. Hypertension? Reduce salt in diet, exercise more, if not effective start drugs. Of course those drugs have their own side effects, but it's documented and well known and we know how to manage them. And prevention is the best, and by prevention i mean start eating healthily starting now, exercise, walk more.

I'm not done yet blasting those supplement but i have to do something now. Will be continued..

Iphone 5s kinda attracts me but man, december is way too late. Or not, i may not be working that time so no need for new phone yet so maybe i can wait. The 64 bit processor is awesome, that is equivalent to my current notebook. Now compress that into a phone, it's just wow! I love iphone's size as it's almost the same to my current phone, and the awesome camera. And there are many awesome cases for iphone. But the cons: i don't fancy iOs..I never own an iphone before but i think the os should be the same as in ipad, right? From what i saw at switch, it's about the same. I find that the apps need constant updating and some apps can't be used unless updated, and update takes a long long long time, thanks a lot to super slow internet connection here. Also, the apps' reviews are not as honest as in Google play. I've started to lurk around the apple communities and forums and they sucks. And not to mention, it's quite pricey..

Come on Android phone maker, ante up! You still can win Malaysia, you have until december. 64 bit too, please!

Ps: forgive my atrocious grammar..this entry is written with too much angst

The End #3 : Disastrous

I need time to cool down before i can write about the convocation. It was a remedial lesson for me to never trust anyone.

So, to cool down and keep my head from mourning about that day, i kept myself busy today, settling my certificates and such, tracking my lost parcel, replying all emails and lastly, educating myself on how to launch  into housemanship.

And i found out, in one of the forms, they listed the hospitals for us housemen-to-be to choose from like this:

1.                     HOSP. TUNKU FAUZIAH, KANGAR
2.                     HOSP. SULTANAH BAHIYAH, ALOR SETAR
3.                     HOSP. SULTAN ABDUL HALIM, SUNGAI PETANI
4.                     HOSP. KULIM, KEDAH
5.                     HOSP. PULAU PINANG
6.                     HOSP. SEBERANG JAYA
7.                     HOSP. TAIPING, PERAK
8.                     HOSP. IPOH
9.                     HOSP. TELUK INTAN
10.                  HOSP. SERI MANJUNG, PERAK
11.                  HOSP. KUALA LUMPUR
12.                  HOSP. TENGKU AMPUAN RAHIMAH, KLANG
13.                  HOSP. SELAYANG, SELANGOR
14.                  HOSP. KAJANG, SELANGOR
15.                  HOSP. SERDANG, SELANGOR
16.                  HOSP. AMPANG, SELANGOR
17.                  HOSP. SUNGAI BULOH, SELANGOR
18.                  HOSP. TUANKU JAA’FAR, SEREMBAN
19.                  HOSP. TUANKU AMPUAN NAJIHAH, KUALA PILAH
20.                  HOSP. MELAKA
21.                  HOSP. PAKAR SULTANAH FATIMAH, MUAR
22.                  HOSP. SULTANAH AMINAH, JOHOR BAHRU
23.                  HOSP. BATU PAHAT, JOHOR
24.                  HOSP. SULTAN ISMAIL, JOHOR
25.                  HOSP. TENGKU AMPUAN AFZAN, KUANTAN
26.                  HOSP. SULTAN HAJI AHMAD SHAH. TEMERLOH
27.                  HOSP. SULTANAH NUR ZAHIRAH, KUALA TERENGGANU
28.                  HOSP. RAJA PEREMPUAN ZAINAB II, KB
29.                  HOSP. UMUM SARAWAK, KUCHING
30.                  HOSP. SIBU, SARAWAK
31.                  HOSP. MIRI, SARAWAK
32.                  HOSP. QUEEN ELIZABETH, KOTA KINABALU
33.                  HOSP. TAWAU, SABAH
34.                  HOSP. DUCHESS OF KENT, SANDAKAN, SABAH
35.                  HOSP. UNIV. KEBANGSAAN MALAYSIA(HUKM)
36.                  PUSAT PERUBATAN UNIV. MALAY (PPUM)
37.                  HOSP. UNIV. SAINS MALAYSIA (HUSM)
38.                  HOSP. PUTRAJAYA

From the top, it's from north to the south, then to the east. Made it easier for me to choose haha. By the way, all my chosen hospitals are the dreadful ones, the ones people trying their best to avoid and the ones where doctors there would laugh their asses off if they knew  people (me) actually apply there willfully. Oh well, what to do, those are the closest hospitals to my family/home. Which somehow got me thinking, maybe it's geographical factors that made senior doctors there behave like that. Too much rain maybe. So maybe, maybe, if i flatten Bukit Larut, rain will pour down less frequent and maybe then, those doctors will behave more humanely. A point to ponder.

How we fare

Olympic has ended. I'm not an avid sports fan, but i love following sports news. Badminton, fencing, gymnastics, athletics, name it, i love all the same. Slightly less for football. And this olympic, i got lucky to watch some of the games, and it was nice. Would be better though, if i had astro..(at this age, never have astro is pathetic and rare, right. poor me..my dad's arguments every time we beg for astro: astro is for the riches (valid while i was in primary school). then when astro flooded the rural area, astro is for those with crappy reception, we're lucky we got all the stations nicely. -_______-....)

My point for this entry is, stop kidding ourselves that we performed nice. We lose. Our mission, as in rtm, impian emas or something, but got emas in the motto so we have failed. period.

I know we can come out with bazillion reasons of why we failed, and all of them are logical and acceptable, but i really hate it when we said our mission is successful. Pure dumb.

As for malaysia team, i watched them for

1. Sync. diving female- pandelela and her partner in final round. 8th place. they could've performed better, but they were nervous, obviously.

2. Badminton- koo-tan in struggle for bronze. They sucked, period. sakit hati! They could've win in 1st set, at least then we'll lose graciously, but they're just, weak. I watched LCW at the beginning, and how disappointed i was, balik-balik kalah pulak!!!! Anyway, both lost were within my calculation, it's just deep deep deep down i wish we could win. In fact, my calculation were so right even for the korean pair, if gambling were not sinful i'd be a millionaire by now.

3. Cycling- final keirin. Suck suck suck suck suck! wrong technique? we could've get at least bronze there. I then read some people said "jahatnya himpit azizul!"..............erm...what? dumb much? it's a match, i certainly feel that's their technique for glory, everyone should do that, though of course, i don't read the rules.

Other participants/matches were too insignificant, no need to write here.

I understand our athletes have done their best, and they are the ones who disappointed the most, but we laymen have enough with these loses! you athletes need to work harder, you got the potential. I believe in sparta-style training, and i believe china do just that, and i think malaysian team lacks that.

And don't start with "eleh kau cakap lebih kau boleh ke?". I can't because 1st, i chose NOT to be an athlete, super sensitive skin here sweats trigger my eczema, 2nd, i don't train, i believe, again, with sparta training, and motivation, even i can be an olympian, 3rd, duhh i'm a nerd who believe in academic power and coincidentally i got some brain, 4th, i missed the chance already, too old now to develop my skill and strength.

And it's time to stop these big fat money incentives. Those money is better spent on other critical areas, like healthcare, education, military and public transport. Pebende, main 2 minggu, kalau dapat gold x payah keje seumur idup (elaun rm5k for life, for me that = x payah keje la). Like really? they are athlete for god sake, it's their jobs, and gaining gold is their ultimate objective, and they get rewarded that handsomely by doing their jobs right? ever consider other workers, like i don't know, doctors maybe, rewarded for doing their jobs right and achieve the ultimate objectives like preventing outbreaks, saving lives ..erm this is hard, ok let say, lecturers, doing their jobs right and achieve golds in conventions, were they rewarded handsomely? nope. (i know a certain phd student, her phd paper was chosen as best paper in the world for her league, and no one knows except her family, and of course other geniuses like her. and she got nothing, not a damn cent, from malaysia.)

anyway. some of them are worth all the praises. For me, it's of course pandelela, i didn't watch the match, but read it. It's motivating, she sunk so low (10/12) and managed to stay calm, focus and dove well, and grabbed a bronze.

My fav athlete this time: the fastest human on earth, usain bolt. he's truly a bolt. when he's competing, there's no need for slow-motion camera to determine who's the winner, the world sees it in naked eyes. Jamaica rocks! And it's a much poorer and underdeveloped country compared to us.

On distantly-related issue, both opening and closing ceremonies sucked, they relied too much on artists. Must be tough, trying to outdone beijing's.

Tale of Unfortunate Events #2

Recap of today's unfortunate events, again, for the sake of my sanity, in the future, when i read this i'll remember that i was awesome, i escaped all these unscathed. I'm awesome.

I'm in psychiatry rotation now, and this day i had my round in my university hospital. I can't believe i'm saying this, but still i'll say it, I HATE PSYCHIATRY ROTATION IN KAUH. I never hate any rounds in kauh before, because rounds there are very informative, and doctors are great and speak english and attentive, and the cases are advanced cases since most of them are referral. but not psychiatry bluwerggh. i'll spare the details of that psychiatry doctor's takbestness, tak baik spreading the bad words. some people may like the doctor though. but for me, i hate this doctor so much, i even imagined bad things to happen to him.

So, today was my second round in kauh, and i was so lazy to get up. i considered skipping the round but meh, the better part of me dominated. so took a cab, and the cab driver overcharged me. i didn't oblige though,  i stupidly stormed out from his unworthy car. while in the bus, my partner called and texted me that doctor has come and she's the only one there. poor her..

then we had a case of severe mental retardation with self-mutilation, and god it was scary. i couldn't bear looking at the poor child, and his extremely patient parents, can cry an ocean la. the boy had episodes of self-mutilation while consulting, and it was so severe, according to my friend who watched it.

after that we were divided into 3 groups and took history. i.hate.this.part.the.most. bloody boring because of my retarded-like arabic comprehension.

then discussed the case while doctor consulting the patients. the most extreme case so far: a 17yo girl tried to kill her dad 7 times (and laughed it when her dad retelling the story creepy!!!!!!!), tried to kill herself i-forgot-how-many-times by cutting her wrists (she claimed it normal!!), drinking ipax-yes i don't know what's that too, my friend assumed it clorox, and tried to jumped from the balcony, all these started after she lost her mom to gastric cancer, and she blamed her dad for it. and she also has relationship with 22yo normal engaged guy. i pity her dad the most. totally crazy, and she's hospitalized. btw people do not judge her, she is sick and i'm sure she's "unconscious" while doing all these crazy things. not unconscious as in coma, but as in she couldn't think properly.  it's hard though, not to judge and confront her, because i feel it too and i feel like slamming her real hard to give her some senses of her doings and thoughts.

and we were interrupted by a man in rage, he's shivering, shouting and he punched wall so hard. i didn't know why he's like that but it was extremely scary i thought he was going to kill all of us. i even planned my escape route just in case, by pushing the doctor to him, (distracting the man from spotting me) then i'll jump over them to the door.  nothing happened though, the man controlled himself very well, he knew not to hurt people, only hurt the wall.

then i had the most boring seminar ever. it's ok to give boring seminar, i knew, not all people are blessed with fluency and presentation skill. it's totally ok and acceptable. but if it's so boring then just speed it off. i was so bored so i slept. and slides with tables?? really??

then went home, again taxi problem. stupid taxi driver followed longer route, and it angered me because i hadn't pray for zohor yet. then he scolded/raised his voice to us because we're asking why. pure bastard, even my parents aka people i respect the most in this whole world stop scolding me 7 years ago. what right he has to scold me, when he's just a lowlife dirty obnoxious stupid stranger?

and the last catastrophe: blackout, 2 times in this night. first, 1 hour, 2nd, 4 minutes. 1 hour blackout is enough to induce chilblain for me, i hate my weak body. my fingers are all sausage-like, now.

btw, i survived after all. i hate jordan, but i lived here for 5 years already not so good, but still ok. i'm awesome.

tomorrow's lectures day, so i don't want to study today.today's round and blackout really turned my mood off. psychiatry is the rotation i hate the most second to paeds. but since paeds sucks so much it doesn't qualify as a rotation in my mind, psychiatry = rotation i hate the most. the best rotation: o&g. the patients are all women, what's more to ask? and delivery is miracle it gives out good vibes to everyone. it's horror though, to watch a live delivery.

ps: al-fatihah for my junior, allahyarham illham ellani. detail here.

Bloody amateurs

I'm so mad with some people this morning, and sadly those people were juniors. I did my routine, though a lil bit earlier than usual, hustled for bus. BUT. But there were some juniors kept chatting in front of buses' doors, and blocking my way. If they were native people, i wouldn't hesitate to push them away aggrassively, but since they were my juniors, i restrained myself, thinking they would have the same Malaysian principle which is do not stall in front of buses's doors, and to show some respect to fellow Malaysians. So i waited.  Those juniors kept chatting, and the 1st bus was filled. Then 2nd bus. They did the same, (at this time, i started cursing them profusely in my heart, yo monkeys, either jostled for seats or move!) and the bus was filled too, WITHOUT me in it. And that went on for the 3rd bus too.

And that was my limit. I grabbed a cab to school today, because i had to catch another bus to go to Mafraq Hospital (about 40min-1 hour journey).

I generally don't have problems with juniors, no matter what they've done. Most of my friends kept complaining how juniors disrespecting them, by not replying their smiles and some of them even turned the blind eyes when my friends tried to be friendly and greet them. I seriously don't have problems with that, in a good way or another. I mean, they can die if they want, they can enjoy if they want, i still don't care. if they ask for my help, i'll help them if i can. If they don't need me and don't even want to know me, it's ok, i understand, it's not their business or mine. I just don't care, and my view on juniors is neutral. I don't hate them, i don't like them.

But not until this morning. I just hate those juniors, who block my way, whose none of them i know. I have a record of almost 100% success rate of getting on the first bus i lay my eyes on, but bloody bus amateurs just ruined my strike. I'll never be lenient again on Malaysian juniors.

ps: remember when i said i want to open a hello kitty cafe? sadly i'm not the first one in this world to think like that, someone has already opened a hello kitty cafe in taiwan. dream wish: open/own the first hello kitty cafe in Malaysia.
