Olympic has ended. I'm not an avid sports fan, but i love following sports news. Badminton, fencing, gymnastics, athletics, name it, i love all the same. Slightly less for football. And this olympic, i got lucky to watch some of the games, and it was nice. Would be better though, if i had astro..(at this age, never have astro is pathetic and rare, right. poor me..my dad's arguments every time we beg for astro: astro is for the riches (valid while i was in primary school). then when astro flooded the rural area, astro is for those with crappy reception, we're lucky we got all the stations nicely. -_______-....)
My point for this entry is, stop kidding ourselves that we performed nice. We lose. Our mission, as in rtm, impian emas or something, but got emas in the motto so we have failed. period.
I know we can come out with bazillion reasons of why we failed, and all of them are logical and acceptable, but i really hate it when we said our mission is successful. Pure dumb.
As for malaysia team, i watched them for
1. Sync. diving female- pandelela and her partner in final round. 8th place. they could've performed better, but they were nervous, obviously.
2. Badminton- koo-tan in struggle for bronze. They sucked, period. sakit hati! They could've win in 1st set, at least then we'll lose graciously, but they're just, weak. I watched LCW at the beginning, and how disappointed i was, balik-balik kalah pulak!!!! Anyway, both lost were within my calculation, it's just deep deep deep down i wish we could win. In fact, my calculation were so right even for the korean pair, if gambling were not sinful i'd be a millionaire by now.
3. Cycling- final keirin. Suck suck suck suck suck! wrong technique? we could've get at least bronze there. I then read some people said "jahatnya himpit azizul!"..............erm...what? dumb much? it's a match, i certainly feel that's their technique for glory, everyone should do that, though of course, i don't read the rules.
Other participants/matches were too insignificant, no need to write here.
I understand our athletes have done their best, and they are the ones who disappointed the most, but we laymen have enough with these loses! you athletes need to work harder, you got the potential. I believe in sparta-style training, and i believe china do just that, and i think malaysian team lacks that.
And don't start with "eleh kau cakap lebih kau boleh ke?". I can't because 1st, i chose NOT to be an athlete, super sensitive skin here sweats trigger my eczema, 2nd, i don't train, i believe, again, with sparta training, and motivation, even i can be an olympian, 3rd, duhh i'm a nerd who believe in academic power and coincidentally i got some brain, 4th, i missed the chance already, too old now to develop my skill and strength.
And it's time to stop these big fat money incentives. Those money is better spent on other critical areas, like healthcare, education, military and public transport. Pebende, main 2 minggu, kalau dapat gold x payah keje seumur idup (elaun rm5k for life, for me that = x payah keje la). Like really? they are athlete for god sake, it's their jobs, and gaining gold is their ultimate objective, and they get rewarded that handsomely by doing their jobs right? ever consider other workers, like i don't know, doctors maybe, rewarded for doing their jobs right and achieve the ultimate objectives like preventing outbreaks, saving lives ..erm this is hard, ok let say, lecturers, doing their jobs right and achieve golds in conventions, were they rewarded handsomely? nope. (i know a certain phd student, her phd paper was chosen as best paper in the world for her league, and no one knows except her family, and of course other geniuses like her. and she got nothing, not a damn cent, from malaysia.)
anyway. some of them are worth all the praises. For me, it's of course pandelela, i didn't watch the match, but read it. It's motivating, she sunk so low (10/12) and managed to stay calm, focus and dove well, and grabbed a bronze.
My fav athlete this time: the fastest human on earth, usain bolt. he's truly a bolt. when he's competing, there's no need for slow-motion camera to determine who's the winner, the world sees it in naked eyes. Jamaica rocks! And it's a much poorer and underdeveloped country compared to us.
On distantly-related issue, both opening and closing ceremonies sucked, they relied too much on artists. Must be tough, trying to outdone beijing's.
