berate my professor

I stumbled upon this blog, name as per title, and it is hilarious! The blog owner is an OC professor and he publish all craps his students wrote on the evaluation sheet. OC= organic chemistry.

It reminds me two things. 

1. The evaluation. My university made it mandatory to evaluate our teaching doctors, and will ban us from taking exams if we don't. The problem is, there are THOUSANDS of doctors to be evaluated. Ok, i don't really count, but i swear it is more than 100 for every major rotations. And i'm pretty sure none of these doctors take the whatever craps we ticked/wrote seriously. Grateful though that there is a loophole in the script via chrome so everytime we refresh the page, the form is automatically filled, so the quickest way to evaluate = f5 and enter. I'm pretty sure the admin noticed this issue but turned blind eye on it. Good.

2. Organic chemistry. The subject i took during the 1st year, the start of the second sem curse. I still can't forget the time my oc dr told me, "you are not registered for this subject. Look here." ....the horror. He also said " it's a small matter, you can take this course next year." which equivalent to prolonging my stay in this damned cursed country another year...the horror-est of the horror. After some crocodile tears i forced from my lacrimal glands, all went well and it's a happy ending story. Personally, i like the subject, it contains only c, h, and o, and some lines. double line, triple line, symmetry or not, mirror image blablabla. It intrigues me how much people are repelled by that very subject, and they did well in other much more complex subjects as histology and anatomy. Maybe i just have more chemistry in chemistry than other people. Which reminds me of my fave teacher in high school, he encouraged me to take medicine. He'll lecture me to take medicine everytime i see him, told me about every medical students he knew, showed me messages from his ex-students who were already doctors by then and asked me to be like them, and one day asked me what subjects i'm good at, other than math? I said chemistry, then he said, "hah that's good! you'll do well in medicine, you know, because chemistry is the core of medicine! you should take medicine if you're good in chemistry!"

I'll tell him he's wrong, chemistry is NOT the core of medicine (biology is!) and i didn't get good grades in medicine (all subjects without chemistry or physics or genetics or statistics in their names)- which means i didn't do well in medicine- despite my good grades in every chemistry subjects i took, if i ever see him again. 

Moral of the short story : Do not trust your math teacher's words on medicine.
