Hard work pays

I probably never study as hard as i did while preparing for the entrance exam, and it pays alhamdulillah.

i came from nothing,  i was the no-name nobody. i'd most certainly fail and nobody will question a thing. but i told myself i must get in. I studied alone, like i always did. last time, it was easy, everyone around me was student as well, and we all had lectures, summaries, questions etc. this time, i studied the old way, straight from textbook, wrote my own notes, no sample questions so i had to make sure i really understand everything by explaining to myself. everything was relatively new to me and the curiosity helped. and alhamdulillah i got in. (will repeat this probably a thousand more time because i am so excited can't wait to start :))

some weird stuff tho.

my friend's mom, a retired lecturer, found out i got in way before i found it out myself (to be fair, I checked 2 days later than others, so..). I got strangers congratulated me for my acceptance, but i assumed i might be some ruddy bigoted youngster who should've know them but i didn't, so..

so came the briefing day, and i met the other successful candidates, 4 of them. a bit intimidating, all of them knew each other and they obviously have some background in the field. but they were all nice and welcoming. i am the youngest.

then, 1 of them congratulated me for getting the highest mark for the entrance exam. i was like, whattt no u kidding but she still insisted it.

*hyperventilating inside*

she's probably joking or making up stories for god knows why, but she made some sense though, on why i could get in despite my disastrous interview and my lowly very modest background. and that would probably explain why some people seem to know me.. (ok fine people are more likely to remember me due to my disastrous interview rather than my supposedly highest mark, i mean come on candidates don't usually cry during the interview itself right..)

i am over the moon of course, in case she's right. my hard work paid off alhamdulillah. this really motivates me to study well. i have a lot to catch up. pray for me, people!
